The musical number in the sequence was not originally in the script, but Gerwig enlisted the help of Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt to write a song from Ken’s perspective. Actor Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in the film, initially had reservations about singing but ultimately embraced the challenge.
