The anticipated talk show deal between former television anchor Don Lemon and the social media platform X has gone up in flames following a contentious interview with Elon Musk. Just days before the scheduled airing of Lemon’s new show, Musk called off the partnership, leaving Lemon and X at odds.

The interview, which took place at SpaceX’s office in Austin, Texas, reportedly delved into topics such as the upcoming U.S. presidential elections and Musk’s various business ventures. Lemon described the conversation as respectful and wide-ranging, but Musk apparently had a different perspective. In a statement, Lemon expressed disappointment in Musk’s decision to cancel the show, citing a lack of willingness to engage in challenging questions.

Salespeople at X were caught off guard by the sudden cancellation, as they had been actively working to secure advertising deals for the show. This setback comes amidst a series of self-inflicted disruptions at X, including Musk’s controversial comments and the departure of advertisers.

Lemon’s show, titled “The Don Lemon Show,” was set to be a part of X’s efforts to attract high-profile content creators and premium content for advertisers. However, X has now announced that they will not be financially supporting Lemon’s venture, although they are open to hosting his content on the platform.

In response, Lemon’s spokesperson stated that they will be seeking payment from X, even if it means taking legal action. The situation underscores the challenges faced by X’s chief executive, Linda Yaccarino, as she navigates the platform’s content strategy under the shadow of Musk’s unpredictable leadership.

As the fallout continues, it remains to be seen how Lemon and X will resolve their differences and what the future holds for both parties in the ever-evolving landscape of media and technology.
