Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Launches New Kitchen and Lifestyle Brand, American Riviera Orchard

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has once again captured the public’s attention with the debut of her new venture, American Riviera Orchard. The brand, which appears to be a kitchen and lifestyle brand, was announced through Meghan’s newly created Instagram account.

Little is known about American Riviera Orchard, but a 15-second video posted on the account shows grainy footage of Meghan arranging flowers, posing in a black gown, and cooking in what seems to be her kitchen in Southern California. A representative for the duchess has confirmed her association with the project but has not provided further details.

However, a trademark application filed for American Riviera Orchard in February suggests that the brand may include a retail store, cookbooks, tableware, and a variety of spreads such as jellies, jams, and fruit preserves. The brand’s logo, a calligraphic gold crest, is displayed on its website, along with an email sign-up for notifications about forthcoming products.

The announcement of American Riviera Orchard comes amidst speculation surrounding Catherine, Princess of Wales, Meghan’s sister-in-law, who recently apologized for releasing an edited image of herself. Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, have not publicly commented on the situation, but Meghan did participate in a panel on women’s representation in entertainment at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, last week.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to Montecito, California, Meghan and Harry have embarked on various ventures, including a podcasting partnership with Spotify and a multiyear deal with Netflix. Their documentary series, “Harry & Meghan,” released by Netflix in 2022, provided a glimpse into their life as a couple.

Meghan’s previous venture, the lifestyle blog The Tig, was popular for its fashion, travel, and cooking content. It remains to be seen how American Riviera Orchard will compare to The Tig, but the brand has already garnered over 200,000 followers on Instagram within hours of its launch. With Meghan’s track record of success, it’s clear that there is an eager audience ready to consume her recommendations through this new brand.
