The United Nations human rights office has documented a series of attacks on Gazans waiting for aid in Gaza, with hunger spreading due to Israel’s near complete siege on the enclave. Since January, there have been at least 26 attacks on Palestinians waiting for desperately needed aid, with the latest incident resulting in the deaths of 20 people at the Kuwait traffic circle in Gaza City.
While the Israeli military has blamed Palestinian gunmen for the violence, the U.N. has called on Israel to ensure that food and medical care are provided to meet Gaza’s needs. Aid agencies have also raised concerns about the difficulty of distributing aid due to looting and growing lawlessness in the region.
Gaza is facing a dire humanitarian situation, with reports of malnutrition, dehydration, and a lack of baby formula leading to the deaths of at least 27 people, including 23 children. The U.N. has warned that the region is nearing famine, and called for urgent action to address the crisis.
As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, the international community is being urged to step in and provide the necessary support to prevent further suffering and loss of life in the besieged enclave.
