Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., issued a stark warning on Saturday following a violent crime spree that left three people dead in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The lone gunman, identified as 26-year-old Andre Gordon, allegedly shot and killed his 52-year-old stepmother and 13-year-old sister in Falls Township, Pennsylvania, before fleeing to New Jersey, where he engaged in a five-hour standoff with law enforcement.
During a segment on “Fox News Live,” Fitzpatrick emphasized the urgent need to address mental health issues in America, stating that the country is facing a crisis worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, increased social media usage, and drug use. He stressed the importance of treating mental health with the same level of attention as physical health to prevent further tragedies like the one that unfolded over the weekend.
Gordon was ultimately taken into custody in Trenton, New Jersey, after surrendering to law enforcement. Fitzpatrick commended the efforts of law enforcement agencies involved in tracking down the suspect and ensuring the safety of the community during the ordeal.
The congressman also expressed condolences for the victims and their families, urging the public to pray for those affected by the tragedy. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of addressing mental health issues and preventing future acts of violence in communities across the country.
