Actress Patricia Arquette recently opened up about her experience filming a nude scene for the 1997 film “Lost Highway.” The 55-year-old star shared her concerns and discomfort during an appearance at the Series Mania Festival in France.
Arquette revealed that she was extremely modest and even took baths in the dark before filming the scene where her character had to strip. The actress admitted that the experience was terrifying for her, but director David Lynch stepped in to address her concerns.
“Some of the guys on set were saying crude things, and I told David: ‘I am not comfortable,'” Arquette recalled. “He immediately took action and made sure that everyone respected my boundaries.”
In addition to the nude scene, Arquette also discussed feeling uncomfortable while filming a sex scene for the movie. She insisted on a closed set and even warned her co-star that she would punch him if he made her feel uncomfortable.
Despite her reservations, Arquette delivered a powerful performance in “Lost Highway” as Renee Madison. The film also starred Bill Pullman, Robert Blake, Gary Busey, Giovanni Ribisi, and Richard Pryor.
This isn’t the first time Arquette has spoken about her struggles with nudity. In a previous interview, she admitted to having a phobia of nudity and revealed that she had to peek through her fingers while watching the film’s nude scenes.
To prepare for her role in the film, Arquette visited dominatrix clubs to study power dynamics and microexpressions. The actress went to great lengths to understand her character and deliver a compelling performance.
Fans of Arquette can appreciate her dedication to her craft and the challenges she faced while filming “Lost Highway.” The actress’s candid revelations shed light on the complexities of working in the entertainment industry and the importance of setting boundaries on set.
