A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Tennessee as a mother accidentally shot and killed her own teenage daughter while rummaging through her purse for her keys. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is currently investigating the death of 13-year-old Dearria Radley.
According to authorities, the teen’s mother, DeAnn Radley, made a frantic call to 911 around 10 p.m. on Saturday, reporting the accidental shooting. She explained that she had reached into her purse and inadvertently triggered her loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol while searching for her keys. The handgun discharged, shooting through her purse and fatally striking her daughter.
Dearria was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries from the gunshot wound. DeAnn Radley expressed her devastation to local news outlet WSMV, stating, “My world is just falling apart. I loved that little girl so much.”
Despite the heartbreaking incident, the Nashville police have not filed any charges in connection with the accidental shooting. The community is left mourning the loss of a young life in this tragic and devastating event.
