An Israeli tech couple, Liron and Naomi Petrushka, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash near the California-Nevada border on Saturday evening. Liron, a former soccer player for Hapoel Ramat Gan Givatayim, and his wife had built a successful tech company together, which later sold for $242 million. The couple had been living in California and were involved in various tech initiatives.
The crash involved a single engine TBM aircraft that was attempting to land at the Truckee Tahoe Airport in California. The plane had departed from Centennial airport in Denver, Colorado earlier in the afternoon. Local reports indicated that there was moderate snow and limited visibility at the time of the crash.
Law enforcement agencies, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), are currently investigating the incident. The news of the Petrushkas’ tragic death has left their community in shock and mourning.
UpWest, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm where Liron Petrushka worked, expressed their condolences on social media, stating that their hearts are with the Petrushka family and their sons. Hapoel Ramat Gan Givatayim also paid tribute to Liron, highlighting his contributions to the club as a player.
The town of Truckee, located southwest of Reno, Nevada, is now at the center of this heartbreaking story as the investigation into the crash continues.
