Three Lifelong Friends Create The Perfect Newsletter and Celebrate with an Outdoor Oyster Roast
Alexa Brazilian, Aaron Dickson Millhiser, and Courtney Broadwater have been friends since childhood, spending summers together on Nantucket in Massachusetts. Despite pursuing different creative paths, the trio has remained close and now, they have come together to create The Perfect, a monthly newsletter sharing their favorite finds with a wider audience.
The newsletter features a range of items, from nostalgic socks to unique kitchen gadgets, and even has an online shop selling vintage items. Last month, the friends decided to celebrate their collaboration with an outdoor oyster roast, harkening back to their childhood days on Nantucket.
The event was held at Brazilian’s home in Little Compton, Rhode Island, and featured a menu of classic Rhode Island dishes prepared by chef Gavin McLaughlin. Guests enjoyed johnny cakes, cove oysters, lobster rolls, and more, all served on a rustic wooden table adorned with rockweed gathered from the beach.
The bar featured a variety of drinks, including a celery margarita and the Grey Lady Oyster Bloody Mary, made with oyster-distilled vodka. As guests mingled and enjoyed the food and drinks, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and the sound of oysters being shucked.
Throughout the event, conversation centered on oyster-eating techniques and memories of summers past. The day was a perfect blend of nostalgia, friendship, and good food, showcasing the bond between these lifelong friends.
As the oyster roast came to a close, Brazilian shared a tip for punch bowls, while McLaughlin offered advice on buying lobsters for rolls. The event was a true celebration of friendship, creativity, and the joy of sharing special finds with others.
