Israeli Strikes on Aid Convoy in Gaza Strip Kill Seven Humanitarian Workers

In a tragic turn of events, Israeli strikes on an aid convoy run by the charity group World Central Kitchen in the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of seven of its workers. The convoy, clearly marked with the charity’s logo, was targeted late Monday night despite coordinating its movements with the Israeli military.

The aid workers, hailing from various countries including Palestine, Australia, Poland, the UK, and the US-Canada, were on a mission to deliver much-needed humanitarian food aid to the people of Gaza. The convoy had just unloaded over 100 tons of aid when it was struck.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a rare acknowledgment of such incidents, expressed regret over the unintentional targeting of innocent people. Israel has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the strikes, attributing it to a “misidentification” in the midst of complex war conditions.

The founder of World Central Kitchen, José Andrés, announced the suspension of operations in Gaza following the tragic incident. The international community, including President Biden and British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, has expressed outrage and demanded explanations from Israel.

Videos and photos of the aftermath of the strikes show the devastation caused to the convoy, highlighting the dangers faced by humanitarian workers in conflict zones. The incident has sparked international outrage and calls for accountability to ensure the safety of aid workers in such critical situations.
