Former President Trump is ramping up his fundraising efforts as he aims to close the cash on hand gap with President Biden, who recently set a high-dollar fundraising record. Big money donors are beginning to coalesce around Trump, who has become the presumptive nominee, in an effort to boost his campaign war chest.

This weekend, Trump will host an “Inaugural Leadership Dinner” at Mar-a-Lago, which will include several Republican high-profile donors. The event, led by hedge-fund billionaire John Paulson and co-chaired by hedge fund tycoon Robert Mercer, signals the beginning of a major push to cut into Biden’s cash on hand lead.

Notable donors expected to attend the event include Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts, New York Jets co-owner Woody Johnson, and Wilbur Ross, Trump’s former Secretary of Commerce. The event will top out at the “Chairman Level,” costing $824,600 and including seating at the former president’s table.

Trump’s fundraising efforts are gaining momentum, with a fundraising luncheon planned in Georgia and a fundraiser in Orlando. RNC Chairman Michael Whatley expressed confidence in Trump’s fundraising abilities, stating that the RNC and Trump campaign are focused on victory.

In March, Trump and the RNC brought in $65.6 million and ended the month with $93.1 million in cash on hand. While Biden currently leads in cash on hand, Trump leads in small dollar donors who gave less than $200.

With the 2024 election heating up, the race for campaign funds is intensifying as both candidates vie for financial support to fuel their campaigns. Stay tuned for more updates on the fundraising efforts of both candidates as the election season progresses.
