Macedonian Filmmaker Goran Stolevski Finds Success Amid Personal Crisis
Goran Stolevski, a talented filmmaker from Macedonia, has been on a writing spree, producing three critically acclaimed features in just three years. After winning a prize at the Sundance Film Festival for his short film “Would You Look at Her,” Stolevski faced another two years of unemployment, during which he wrote four more screenplays. Now 38, Stolevski has written at least 10 scripts before making his feature debut with “You Won’t Be Alone,” a captivating tale about a shape-shifting witch in a 19th-century Macedonian village.
His latest film, “Housekeeping for Beginners,” which follows the chaotic interactions of an unconventional queer family, is set to hit theaters soon.
