The O.J. Simpson Saga Continues: Goldman Family Still Pursuing $33 Million Judgment
More than 25 years ago, O.J. Simpson was found liable in civil court for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. He was ordered to pay more than $33 million to their families, but they have yet to recover the damages.
Despite O.J. Simpson’s recent passing, the Goldman family remains steadfast in their pursuit of the money owed to them. David Cook, a lawyer for Fred Goldman, Ronald’s father, stated that they will continue to pursue the judgment as before, emphasizing that Simpson “died without penance.”
While the Goldman family has received around $132,000 from Simpson over the years, the total amount owed has now ballooned to $114 million due to annual interest increases on the unpaid portion. The family’s hopes of recovering the full amount rest on Simpson’s estate, which was recently filed in Clark County court in Nevada.
Malcolm LaVergne, a longtime attorney for Simpson, is overseeing the estate and has stated that he will examine all claims, including those from the Goldman family. However, he also mentioned the possibility of legally dealing with the estate in a way that excludes the Goldmans from receiving any compensation.
Despite the arduous task of recovering the damages, the Goldman family remains resolute in their pursuit. Fred Goldman once stated that the money was not the issue, but rather holding the man responsible for the deaths of his son and Nicole accountable.
As the legal battle continues, the Goldman family waits for justice to be served, determined to see the judgment through to the end.
