Former President Donald Trump made a triumphant return to the public eye just two days after surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump, who sported a bandage on his injured ear from the bullet graze, made his first public appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to a roaring ovation from the crowd.

Despite the harrowing incident over the weekend, Trump insisted that the convention go on as scheduled, arriving in Milwaukee and making his way to the event just over two days after the attempt on his life. The former president entered the arena to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” receiving a thunderous welcome from supporters.

During the event, Trump officially secured the Republican nomination, with his son Eric Trump pledging the delegates that put him over the top. He also announced his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, as his vice presidential pick, to the excitement of the crowd.

Trump is set to deliver a speech on Thursday evening to cap off the convention, with a new emphasis on unity in the wake of the recent shooting. Despite the challenges he has faced, Trump’s return to the public eye has been met with overwhelming support and enthusiasm from his supporters.
