Dr. Abraham Ehizojie, a medical professional at Kuje Correctional Centre, is currently facing a bench arrest warrant issued by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja. This warrant was issued after Dr. Ehizojie failed to provide a medical report for Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive, and did not appear in court as required.
Local news sources reported that Mark Mordi, representing Gambaryan, requested the court to issue the arrest warrant and asked for Gambaryan to be transferred to a hospital for urgent medical evaluation due to his serious health issues, including severe back pain.
Mordi emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “My client came in here in a wheelchair. He has been complaining of back pain. We need to be careful of the life in our hands.”
Justice Nwite condemned the failure to comply with court orders and issued the bench warrant for Dr. Ehizojie. Additionally, he ordered Gambaryan to be taken to Nizamiye Hospital for a 24-hour medical examination under strict security. The case has now been rescheduled for October 11.
Gambaryan, along with Binance, is facing accusations of money laundering and violating foreign exchange regulations. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, his family and legal team are urgently seeking his medical treatment and release. Yuki Gambaryan, Tigran’s wife, expressed her distress over her husband’s deteriorating condition and pleaded with the Nigerian authorities to release him on humanitarian grounds.
This situation underscores the critical need to address both the legal and humanitarian aspects of Tigran Gambaryan’s case. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
