Former footballer and BBC presenter Jermaine Jenas has been sacked by the corporation following complaints about workplace conduct. The 41-year-old, who presented The One Show and appeared on Match of the Day, has been taken off air from both primetime shows.
BBC News understands that Jenas’ contract was terminated earlier this week due to alleged issues relating to workplace behavior, including allegations involving digital communications such as texts that were raised with the corporation a few weeks ago.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed, “We can confirm Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up.” Jenas, who earned between £190,000 – £194,999 at the BBC for his work on the FA Cup, Match of the Day, and the World Cup, was last on air earlier in the summer.
Jenas, who retired from football in 2016 after playing for Nottingham Forest, Spurs, and Newcastle United, turned his attention to media work as a pundit. He became a regular on Match of the Day and BT Sport, as well as presenting The One Show since 2020.
In addition to his media career, Jenas co-founded the Aquinas Foundation to help incentivize and raise the aspirations of young people in schools across Nottingham. He also appeared on The Great Sport Relief Bake-Off in 2016 and received an honorary degree from Nottingham Trent University in December 2023.
Despite his dismissal from the BBC, Jenas continues to work for talkSport and TNT Sports, although his profile has been removed from his agent’s website.
