Russia Launches Massive Attack on Ukraine, Killing at Least Three

In a devastating turn of events, Russia has launched a massive attack across Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least three people and causing serious damage to power and water supplies. Explosions were reported in several cities, including Kyiv, as more than half of the country’s regions came under attack.

Authorities in Zaporizhzhia, Lutsk, and the central Dnipropetrovsk region confirmed casualties from the air raid, which involved missiles and drones. Ukraine’s Prime Minister pointed out that Russia had been targeting their energy infrastructure, a long-standing tactic of Moscow’s forces.

The barrage of drone and missile attacks began overnight and continued into the morning, with explosions heard in cities from west to east. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal reported that 15 regions were targeted, with the attacks aimed at energy infrastructure using various weapons.

The attacks have caused significant damage to infrastructure, leading to power outages in many cities, including Kyiv, and disruptions to water supplies. Emergency blackouts have been imposed, with energy company DTEK working to restore electricity supplies.

Russia’s targeting of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been ongoing since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that Russia had destroyed half of the country’s electricity-generating capacity through attacks on energy facilities.

Despite Ukraine’s efforts to counterattack, including a recent offensive into Russia, Moscow’s forces have remained engaged in Ukraine. Ukraine’s allies have been called upon to approve long-range attacks on Russia with Western-supplied weapons.

As the conflict escalates, the international community watches with concern as the situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate.
