Aragon, a pioneer in onchain governance, has announced major changes to its product portfolio in order to focus on its next-generation tech stack: Aragon OSx and Aragon App. The company will be sunsetting front-end support for Aragon Court, Govern, and Voice on December 1, 2024.
These legacy products were introduced in 2021 to address high gas costs and voter apathy through a more efficient governance process. However, they were deemed too prescriptive and complex for broad adoption compared to Aragon’s flagship DAO framework, aragonOS.
Aragon is committed to supporting users during this transition period, with Aragon Client being supported until active DAOs are safely migrated to the new Aragon stack. The company has re-architected its DAO framework with Aragon OSx to make it easier for DAOs to design custom governance and evolve over time.
The roadmap for Aragon’s next-generation DAO framework includes features such as Staged Multibody Governance, Optimistic Governance, and Frictionless Onchain Voting. These advancements aim to provide flexible and modular solutions to persistent governance challenges.
Legacy users of Aragon’s products are encouraged to reach out for migration solutions, with discounted options available for Aragon Client DAOs. ANT and ANJ holders are advised to withdraw their tokens and convert them before November 2, 2024.
Aragon’s focus on evolving its DAO framework showcases its commitment to driving innovation in onchain governance and paving the way for the next generation of decentralized autonomous organizations.
