The music world is in mourning following the tragic death of US rapper Rich Homie Quan, whose passing was confirmed by authorities on Thursday. The artist, known for hits like “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)”, was in his early 30s when he passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner.

Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, rose to fame in the mid-2010s as one of Atlanta’s most prominent modern rappers. He was nominated for multiple BET and BET Hip Hop Awards and collaborated with industry heavyweights like 2 Chainz, Young Thug, and Gucci Mane.

Born in 1989, Rich Homie Quan overcame early struggles, including a stint in jail for burglary, to pursue his passion for music. Since news of his death broke, tributes have poured in from fellow artists like Jacquees, 2 Chainz, and Quavo, who all expressed their shock and sadness at the loss.

Engineer Alex Tumay, who worked with Rich Homie Quan, described him as one of the nicest people he ever worked with and a true artist. The cause of his death remains unknown, with an autopsy scheduled for Friday to determine the circumstances. The rap community is united in grief as they remember the legacy of Rich Homie Quan.
