Selena Gomez Opens Up About Inability to Carry Children
Selena Gomez, the 32-year-old singer and actor, has recently revealed in a cover interview with Vanity Fair that she is unable to carry her own children. This heartbreaking news comes as Gomez shared that she has a lot of medical issues that would put her life and the baby’s in jeopardy if she were to become pregnant.
Gomez, who has been open about her diagnosis with lupus, an autoimmune disease, has also been managing symptoms of bipolar disorder with medication. In 2017, she underwent a kidney transplant linked to her lupus, further complicating her ability to have a safe pregnancy.
Despite these challenges, Gomez expressed her desire to have children and is considering options such as surrogacy or adoption. She shared that while it may not be the way she envisioned starting a family, she is grateful for the possibility of becoming a mother through alternative means.
“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people,” Gomez said in the interview. “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
Gomez, who is currently in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, remains optimistic about the future and the possibility of expanding her family through different avenues. Her candidness about her struggles and resilience in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to many facing similar challenges.
