Italy’s Conservative-Led Government Sees 64% Drop in Illegal Immigration Numbers

Italy’s conservative-led government has been making significant strides in reducing illegal immigration over the past year, with a remarkable 64% drop in numbers to show for their efforts. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani recently spoke with “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo about the government’s hard work and dedication to achieving this goal.

Tajani emphasized that the government is not against legal immigration but is focused on combating illegal immigration, particularly the activities of human traffickers who are involved in various criminal enterprises. He highlighted the importance of financial deals struck with Tunisia, Libya, and other North African countries in reducing the flow of illegal immigrants into Italy.

Last year, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also addressed the issue of illegal immigration and human trafficking, stressing the need to fight against these criminal organizations. She expressed concern about the growing power of traffickers and their ability to influence immigration policies.

Meloni credited recent global events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War, for prompting citizens to reevaluate political ideologies and support conservative policies. Tajani echoed this sentiment, noting that the Italian economy has shown improvement under the current leadership, with lower unemployment rates and a rising stock exchange.

The government’s strategy moving forward includes further economic reforms, such as reducing taxes to stimulate growth and support businesses. The conservative movement in Italy appears to be gaining momentum, with a focus on strengthening border security and combating illegal immigration.

Overall, Italy’s efforts to address illegal immigration have garnered both criticism and praise, with some applauding the government’s proactive approach to tackling this complex issue. As the country continues to navigate the challenges of immigration and border security, the conservative-led government remains committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting its citizens.
