Former England cricket captain and presenter Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff is set to bring back the iconic darts-themed quiz show Bullseye for ITV in a special Christmas episode. The 46-year-old sports personality expressed his excitement about hosting the show, stating that Bullseye was one of his favorite shows as a kid.

Originally broadcast on ITV from 1981 to 1995, Bullseye was fronted by the late comedian Jim Bowen and featured three pairs of contestants, each consisting of a darts player and a quizzer working together to win prizes. The show’s mascot, Bully, also played a significant role, with Flintoff referencing the beloved character in his hosting announcement.

While it is unclear if a full series has been commissioned, the return of Bullseye comes at a time when darts is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Professional darts personalities like 17-year-old Luke Littler, who recently won the World Series of Darts finals, have been captivating audiences with their skills.

Flintoff’s return to television comes after a challenging period, including a serious incident during filming for Top Gear in 2022 that left him with facial and rib injuries. Despite the setback, Flintoff has been gradually making a comeback, appearing in the BBC series Field of Dreams and returning to cricket as part of the England coaching team and head coach for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.

With Bullseye making a comeback and Flintoff at the helm, fans of the classic quiz show can look forward to a nostalgic and entertaining Christmas special on ITV.
