Report: Group of suspects attack former New York Gov. David Paterson and stepson while walking dog

Former New York Governor David Paterson and his stepson were victims of a violent attack in Manhattan on Friday night. The pair were walking their dog when they encountered three young suspects, possibly teenagers, climbing a fire escape on Second Avenue near East 96th Street.

According to police sources, the suspects had a previous interaction with Paterson’s stepson and proceeded to attack the victims after they told them to stop. Despite suffering injuries, Paterson and his stepson were able to fight off their attackers.

Paterson sustained a head injury, while his stepson suffered a more severe face injury. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. As of Friday night, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

Paterson, who served as governor from 2008 to 2010, is married to Mary Sliwa, the ex-wife of Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
