Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden rushed to hospital after collapsing backstage during last night’s show
Amy Dowden, a beloved dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, was taken to hospital after collapsing backstage during last night’s main show. The incident occurred at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, where an ambulance was called as a precaution when Dowden began feeling unwell.
Dowden, who returned to the Strictly line-up in 2024 after battling breast cancer, did not appear in Sunday evening’s results show as she was still receiving medical care. An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed that she was transported to Barnet Hospital for further care.
In a statement, Dowden’s spokesperson reassured fans that she is now “feeling much better” and expressed gratitude for the support from the Strictly family. The spokesperson also requested privacy for Dowden in matters of health.
A BBC spokesperson announced that Dowden was unable to participate in the results show due to unforeseen circumstances. It remains uncertain whether she will miss any further rehearsals or recordings.
Despite her health challenges, Dowden has shown incredible resilience and determination. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, she bravely shared her journey in a BBC documentary titled “Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me.” Dowden’s return to the dance floor was met with joy and celebration, as she and her partner JLS singer JB Gill impressed the judges with their waltz performance.
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing are sending their well wishes to Amy Dowden for a speedy recovery and hoping to see her back on the dance floor soon.
