Renowned designer and record producer Nigo has recently unveiled his latest masterpiece – a stunning beachfront concrete shelter that blurs the lines between architecture and nature. Located in a secluded town a few hours south of Tokyo, the 1,735-square-foot home is a testament to Nigo’s unique vision and attention to detail.

Designed by Takashi Yanai of Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects, the house features a minimalist aesthetic with bold apertures and natural vistas that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces. The main room boasts a bespoke 10-by-22-foot glass panel that offers uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean, creating a sense of connection with the surrounding environment.

Nigo’s love for Japanese design and California Modernism is evident throughout the house, with iconic midcentury furniture pieces and clean, monolithic structures defining the space. The interior reflects Nigo’s eclectic taste, with a mix of vintage wooden furniture, reflective stainless-steel accents, and leather lounge chairs creating a harmonious blend of old and new.

Despite its serene location, the house is not without its challenges. From mosquito protection for the sliding glass wall to the painstaking process of recreating the texture of the board-formed concrete walls, Nigo’s dedication to perfection shines through in every detail.

For Nigo, the house is more than just a place to relax – it’s a sanctuary for the soul. With its tranquil surroundings and thoughtful design, the beachfront shelter offers a glimpse into the creative mind of one of Japan’s most revered aesthetic talents. As Nigo himself puts it, “It’s good for the soul.”
