Title: Aid Delivery to Gaza Still Uncertain Despite Israeli Promise

Four days after Israel pledged to increase aid deliveries to Gaza, the situation remains unclear as conflicting reports emerge about the amount of supplies reaching the territory. The international community has been closely monitoring the hunger crisis in Gaza, especially after Israeli airstrikes killed seven aid workers last week.

The Israeli unit overseeing aid deliveries, COGAT, reported that 322 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies, with over 70% of them containing food, entered Gaza on Sunday. However, UNRWA, the primary UN agency assisting Palestinians, stated that only 103 aid trucks crossed into Gaza on the same day, highlighting a significant discrepancy in the reported numbers.

While Israel has allowed limited use of a third border crossing for aid deliveries, aid groups accuse the country of restricting shipments, a claim that Israel denies. The United States is pushing for a daily influx of 350 aid trucks into Gaza by the end of the week, emphasizing the need for a sustained increase in aid deliveries.

Aid workers stress the importance of a cease-fire to ensure the safety of civilians and humanitarian staff in Gaza. They also emphasize the need for more medical personnel trained to address malnutrition effects. The situation in northern Gaza is particularly dire, with aid organizations struggling to meet the overwhelming need for supplies.

Despite recent airdrops of aid to Gaza, officials argue that overland deliveries are more efficient. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, urging Israel to fulfill its promise of increased aid deliveries to alleviate the hunger crisis in Gaza.
