Hedi Slimane of Celine Breaks Fashion Norms with Fall Women’s Wear Collection
A full week after the end of the fashion season, Hedi Slimane of Celine released his fall women’s wear collection in a unique way – as a video. While he may have been unconventional in his timing and format, Slimane stayed true to the trend of breaking away from the typical cool-girl-in-the-city aesthetic.
Instead of the usual trench coats, jeans, and blazers, Slimane focused on midcentury chic with a collection that highlighted pearls, pussy bows, and polish. The collection paid homage to Celine founder Céline Vipiana and photographer Richard Avedon, featuring late 1960s silhouettes that were structured and defined by a jolie madame ethos.
