House Democrats are gearing up for a potential investigation into former President Donald Trump if they secure the House majority in November. Top lawmakers, including Reps. Richard Neal and Jamie Raskin, have not ruled out probing Trump if he were to win the White House again.

Neal, who led the probe into Trump’s tax returns in the last Congress, expressed uncertainty about resuming that effort but emphasized his commitment to holding the former president accountable. Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, also indicated a willingness to investigate Trump, citing the need to address corruption and ensure government accountability.

Other Democratic lawmakers, such as Reps. Eric Swalwell and Dan Goldman, highlighted the potential for investigations into Trump’s family and business dealings, particularly focusing on Jared Kushner’s foreign investments. They emphasized the importance of providing checks and balances on the executive branch.

In response, a Trump campaign spokeswoman dismissed the Democrats’ intentions as fueled by “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” while House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer warned of potential harassment and obstruction if Democrats were to pursue investigations into Trump.

As the possibility of a Democratic-led investigation looms, the political landscape remains contentious, with both parties preparing for a high-stakes election in November. Stay tuned for further developments on this story.
