The Los Angeles Dodgers kicked off the 2024 season with a thrilling victory over the San Diego Padres in Seoul, South Korea. In a game that was tied 2-2 in the eighth inning, Gavin Lux’s grounder somehow slipped past Padres first baseman Jake Cronenworth, allowing Teoscar Hernandez to score and give the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. The Dodgers went on to score four runs in the inning, securing a 5-2 win.

Key players in the game included Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, who each contributed with two hits and an RBI. Evan Phillips closed the game and earned his first save of the season for the Dodgers. On the Padres side, Xander Bogaerts stood out with a 2-for-4 performance and an RBI.

The game also marked the regular-season debut of Tyler Glasnow for the Dodgers, who struck out three batters in five innings of work. The Padres started Yu Darvish, who lasted 3.2 innings with three strikeouts.
