Billionaire Elon Musk Slams New York Times Writer for Claiming U.S. Constitution is a Threat
In a recent article by the New York Times’ book critic Jennifer Szalai, she claimed that the U.S. Constitution could be considered one of the “biggest threats” to the country. Szalai argued that the Constitution, which is supposed to be a safeguard against authoritarianism, could actually be fostering cynicism and aiding in the growth of authoritarianism.
Szalai specifically criticized the originalist interpretations of the Constitution, referring to it as “Constitution worship.” She pointed out that former President Trump’s ability to become president through the Electoral College highlighted the document’s flaws, calling it “essentially antidemocratic and increasingly dysfunctional.”
This controversial piece led to criticism from billionaire Elon Musk, who took to social media to express his disagreement with the Times’ perspective. Musk stated, “They want to overthrow The Constitution,” emphasizing his support for the document by adding, “Long Live America and our Constitution!”
Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham also weighed in on the debate, questioning whether the New York Times harbors animosity towards the Constitution.
Fox News Digital reached out to the New York Times for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
The clash between Musk and the Times writer highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the role and relevance of the U.S. Constitution in modern American society.
