King Charles III is alive and well, putting to rest rumors of his demise that have been circulating due to his recent cancer diagnosis. In fact, the king is not only alive but also hosting a fashion show at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk County, England.
The exhibition, titled “Royal Garden Waste to Fashion’s Future,” features garments created by designers Vin + Omi using detritus from gardens at Sandringham and Highgrove House, Charles’s private residence. The designers have been collaborating with the king since 2018 when he suggested using discarded nettle from Highgrove for a collection shown in London.
Mr. Cara and Mr. Ong, the designers behind Vin + Omi, have since developed a close relationship with Charles and have been given free rein to experiment with waste materials from his estates. The exhibition showcases innovative designs, including gowns made of willow cellulose, halter evening dresses knitted from willow and hydrangea cellulose, and floor-length sheaths constructed with butterbur.
Meanwhile, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi is making a comeback with a new collection that reflects his signature aesthetic. The line includes gingham jackets, mini skirts, shirt dresses, trousers, and tops, as well as accessories like stud earrings and aviator sunglasses. Mizrahi describes the collection as more contemporary and youthful, drawing inspiration from midcentury influences.
Despite the trends in the fashion industry, Mizrahi’s designs have a timeless quality, influenced by iconic women like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Mary Tyler Moore. The designer emphasizes that his clothes are classic and will never go out of style.
Both King Charles III and Isaac Mizrahi are proving that age is just a number, with their creativity and passion for fashion shining through in their latest projects.
