Seven people were taken to the hospital after a crowd surge at the Boardmasters music festival in Newquay, Cornwall. The incident occurred on Friday and left attendees injured but thankfully none of the injuries were serious, according to Devon and Cornwall Police.

One woman described the incident as “terrifying” as she and her daughter were crushed against the barriers during the surge. Another parent shared that their son, who was visibly distressed, left the festival early following the crush.

Despite the incident, festival organizers confirmed that there were no deaths and that the festival would continue as planned. Seven attendees were taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary examination but were treated for minor injuries and discharged.

Concerned parents and attendees expressed their distress over the incident, with one parent calling the scene “bedlam” and emphasizing the need for increased safety measures at the festival.

Festival organizers canceled a planned set by DJ Sammy Virji to prioritize attendee safety. Virji expressed disappointment over the cancellation but emphasized that safety should always come first.

With a record number of 58,000 attendees expected at the festival this year, featuring lead artists like Chase & Status, Sam Fender, and Stormzy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all attendees remains a top priority.
