Former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman and Florida State football standout Char-ron Dorsey passed away at the age of 46 after complications from a stroke. Dorsey was a key player on the 1999 Florida State national championship team and an All-ACC selection in 2000.
Dorsey’s football journey continued when he was drafted by the Cowboys in 2001, playing in nine games in his rookie season before moving on to the Houston Texans. Despite facing challenges with injuries, Dorsey’s passion for the game never wavered.
After retiring from professional football, Dorsey returned to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, where he became a high school football coach. Known for his dedication to his players and his ability to relate to them, Dorsey made a lasting impact on the young athletes he mentored.
“He cared for the kids. The kids were his main priority. He fought for them tooth and nail. He was a great example as a man. He could relate to the kids,” said Parker High School athletic director Brad Bernard.
Dorsey’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the lessons he imparted to the next generation of athletes. His commitment to hard work and dedication serves as an inspiration to all who knew him.
Our thoughts are with Dorsey’s family, friends, and the football community as they mourn the loss of a beloved player and coach.
