President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday was met with mixed reactions from American voters, particularly regarding his age and ability to lead the country. Despite being the oldest president in office at 81, Biden delivered a fiery and forceful speech that aimed to dispel doubts about his capabilities.

Aylon Gipson, a 21-year-old economics student from Alabama, expressed initial concerns about Biden’s age, comparing him to his grandmother. However, after witnessing Biden’s energetic speech, Gipson felt more confident in the president’s abilities and pledged to vote for him in the upcoming election.

On the other hand, Darlene Buhler, a 65-year-old Republican from South Dakota, criticized Biden’s speech as rambling and described him as a grumpy old man. Buhler expressed doubts about Biden’s ability to handle four more years in office and indicated a preference for former President Donald Trump.

Amy Kalokerinos, a 42-year-old Independent from New York, praised Biden’s speech as the best he has ever given, highlighting his stern and forceful delivery. Despite being an ageist, Kalokerinos plans to vote for Biden again, citing concerns about Trump’s policies.

Michelle Dunkley, a 60-year-old Democrat from New Jersey, acknowledged Biden’s age but expressed support for his leadership. Dunkley believes the country needs younger leaders but will still vote for Biden in the upcoming election.

Karen Kemp, a 48-year-old Democrat from Connecticut, initially worried about Biden’s performance but was impressed by his energy and experience during the speech. Kemp emphasized the importance of feeling proud of the president and drew distinctions between Biden and Trump.

Overall, American voters are grappling with the issue of age in politics as they evaluate Biden’s performance and consider their choices for the future of the country.
