Accidental Matchmakers Find Love in France and Tie the Knot in Brooklyn

In a heartwarming tale of serendipity and love, Pamela Grace and Arnim Ludwig Kaiser found each other in the most unexpected of circumstances. It all began on a fateful evening at Le Plaza-La Paillotte, a restaurant in Arles, France, where Ms. Grace, 80, and Mr. Kaiser, 79, were dining alone.

When Ms. Grace felt unsteady as she was leaving, Mr. Kaiser, seated nearby, invited her to sit at his table. Little did they know that this chance encounter would spark a deep connection between them. The waitress, who witnessed their interaction with a smile, unknowingly played a role in bringing them together.

Despite initial assumptions about each other’s marital status, Ms. Grace and Mr. Kaiser soon discovered a shared love for salmon and lavender-infused crème brûlée. Their conversations flowed effortlessly, and before they knew it, they were exchanging email addresses and pouring their hearts out in personal emails.

As their bond grew stronger, they navigated obstacles like long-distance and Mr. Kaiser’s hesitation to fly. However, their love prevailed, and in December 2023, Mr. Kaiser proposed to Ms. Grace during a romantic dinner in Germany. The couple tied the knot on March 15 in a cozy ceremony in Ms. Grace’s Fort Greene apartment, surrounded by 26 loved ones.

Now, the newlyweds plan to split their time between Brooklyn and Europe, savoring the joy of finding love later in life. Despite their past experiences, Ms. Grace and Mr. Kaiser are grateful for the unexpected journey that brought them together.

“I didn’t know or believe such feelings would ever come back,” Mr. Kaiser said, reflecting on their remarkable love story. With a five-star rating for the accidental matchmakers at Le Plaza-La Paillotte, this couple’s tale serves as a reminder that love knows no bounds and can blossom in the most unexpected places.
