HYT, the innovative watchmaking brand known for its unique blend of liquid and mechanics, is making a comeback at the Watches and Wonders trade show this week. After facing quality issues, bankruptcy, and leadership changes, HYT is now under the guidance of its executive chairman, Vincent Perriard, who is spearheading a new chapter for the brand.

The revival kicks off with the introduction of the T1 collection, featuring a smaller 45mm size and a redesigned dial that showcases the brand’s hydromechanical technology on the caseback. With a starting price of $48,000, the T1 collection aims to attract a new audience while still appealing to loyal customers.

HYT’s focus is on innovation and rebuilding trust with its customers. The brand is offering free service and refurbishment for existing HYT models to its top customers, emphasizing its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

With production limited to 200-250 watches a year, HYT is positioning itself in the growing market of independent brands, riding the wave of interest in ultraniche items. The brand’s new direction aligns with the trend towards quiet luxury and intrinsic value, as collectors seek unique and understated timepieces.

While Vincent Perriard leads the brand through this transition, Vahe Vartzbed is set to become the new chief executive, bringing his experience from Swiss independent watchmaker Greubel Forsey. With a focus on fixing past issues and regaining the confidence of retailers, HYT is optimistic about the future but remains cautious about the journey ahead.

As HYT embarks on this new chapter, the brand’s resilience and commitment to innovation are evident. With a loyal base of connoisseur collectors and a renewed focus on quality and design, HYT is poised to make a lasting impression in the world of luxury watchmaking.
