Former footballer and BBC presenter Jermaine Jenas has been sacked from his role at the BBC after admitting to sending “inappropriate messages” to two colleagues on the One Show. In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Jenas expressed his shame and regret over the incident, stating that he had “let everybody down”.

The 41-year-old, who is married with four children, acknowledged that he had made a “huge error of judgement” and apologized for his actions, emphasizing that he did not engage in any illegal behavior. Despite his remorse, Jenas was terminated from his position at the BBC this week for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a female colleague.

Jenas revealed that he was informed of the allegations a few weeks ago and was subsequently sacked during a video call while on a family holiday. He admitted that he felt like he had “lost everything” and expressed his deep regret for the impact his actions had on his colleagues, friends, and family.

The BBC has not disclosed further details about the allegations against Jenas, but confirmed that he is no longer part of their presenting line-up. Jenas, who also works for TNT Sports as a pundit and co-commentator, is currently receiving therapy and has accepted that he “fell below the standards” expected of him by the BBC.

As Jenas navigates the fallout from his dismissal, his future with TNT Sports and Formula E remains uncertain. While Formula E has stated that they will carefully consider their decision regarding Jenas’s involvement in the upcoming season, TNT has not commented on his future with the broadcaster.

Jenas, who made his footballing debut at 17 and played for clubs like Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, retired in 2016 before transitioning into a career in the media. Despite his achievements on the pitch and in the broadcasting world, Jenas now faces the repercussions of his actions and the impact they have had on his professional and personal life.
