Luxury travelers with a taste for the unique and exclusive are now turning their attention to gem- and jewelry-themed travel experiences. According to Milton Pedraza, founder and CEO of the Luxury Institute, high-net worth individuals are seeking out these one-of-a-kind adventures to add a touch of authenticity and genuine experience to their lives.
One such designer catering to this trend is Pamela Hastry, who is set to lead a group on a tour of Namibia in search of beautiful tourmalines. The 10-day itinerary, organized by luxury travel agency Destination, includes a night in a tent near one of the tourmaline mines, offering participants a chance to live and dig like a miner for a day and a half.
Among the travelers joining this unique expedition is Damien Van Bellinghen, founder of Le Club des Etoiles in Brussels. Having previously experienced one of Ms. Hastry’s private tours of Antwerp’s diamond district, Mr. Van Bellinghen is eager to delve into the world of gem extraction, connect with miners, and explore Namibia through the eyes of a jeweler.
With the demand for exclusive and immersive travel experiences on the rise, it seems that digging for tourmalines is just the beginning of a new trend in luxury travel for those seeking a truly authentic and unforgettable adventure.
