The saga of Craig Wright, the man who falsely claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, has taken another dramatic turn. A U.K. judge has ordered a worldwide freeze on $7.6 million (£6 million) worth of Wright’s assets following his defeat in a lawsuit against the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA).

Judge James Mellor’s ruling comes after he found that Wright had not authored the Bitcoin whitepaper, created Bitcoin, or developed its early software, despite his persistent claims to the contrary. The judge granted COPA’s request for a freezing injunction to prevent Wright from dissipating assets and avoiding the costs associated with the case.

The decision to freeze Wright’s assets reflects concerns about his credibility and intentions, particularly in light of recent transfers of shares to an overseas company. The judge’s actions aim to ensure that Wright’s assets remain available to cover the costs bill that COPA expects to recover.

This latest development further complicates Wright’s ability to pursue legal action related to his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto. It also serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of dishonesty and abuse of the legal system.

The case highlights the importance of judicial tools to hold individuals like Wright accountable and prevent them from evading responsibility. As the saga continues to unfold, the world watches to see what the future holds for Craig Wright and his claims to the Bitcoin throne.
