Strictly Come Dancing duo Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have addressed recent speculation surrounding their on-screen interactions during Saturday’s episode of the popular dance competition. Viewers were quick to notice what appeared to be awkward moments between the pair, including a high-five that Jones seemed to decline and a gesture where she moved Evans’s hand away.

However, the duo took to social media to clarify that these moments were simply part of an ongoing “running joke” between them. Jones emphasized that she did not feel uncomfortable or offended by the interactions, dismissing any claims to the contrary as “complete nonsense.”

A source from Strictly Come Dancing confirmed that the welfare team had checked in on Evans and Jones, and no further actions were planned regarding the situation. The high-five incident occurred after the duo’s performance on the dancefloor, where they were joined by fellow contestants Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin.

Evans and Jones performed a tango to Abba’s “Money, Money, Money” during Saturday’s episode, with their routine receiving positive feedback from the judges. The Welsh opera singer, known for his role as Gio Compario in Go Compare advertisements, has been paired with the professional Russian dancer for series 22 of the show.

Despite the brief controversy, Evans and Jones successfully advanced to the next round of the competition, with DIY SOS star Nick Knowles becoming the third celebrity to be eliminated. The pair’s chemistry and dedication to their performances continue to captivate audiences as they strive for success on the Strictly dancefloor.
