Country music star Kelsea Ballerini is facing a legal battle after an alleged hacker, who was once a super fan, leaked her unfinished music without permission. The “Penthouse” singer has filed for a temporary restraining order against Bo Ewing, accusing him of accessing and distributing still-in-production, unreleased masters and demos of her songs.
According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Ewing, a former member of Ballerini’s fan club, has a history of hacking into famous musicians’ accounts to obtain works improperly. Ballerini, along with Black River Entertainment and producer Alysa Vanderheym, have secured an injunction to prevent any further unauthorized release of the unfinished recordings.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for Ballerini emphasized the importance of protecting an artist’s music, stating that stealing and sharing unfinished music is illegal and harms the integrity of the creative process.
This incident is not isolated, as other artists like Taylor Swift have also recently faced music leaks. Just hours before the release of Swift’s eleventh studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” reports of a leak circulated online, prompting backlash from fans who expressed their disappointment in anyone listening to the leaked tracks.
The issue of music leaks raises concerns about the protection of artists’ work and the impact it can have on the creative process. Ballerini’s legal action serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting artists’ intellectual property and the effort they put into their craft.
