President Biden Criticizes Netanyahu Over Civilian Deaths in Gaza

In a recent interview with MSNBC, President Biden expressed his concern over the rising civilian death toll in the Gaza Strip and rebuked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his military strategy. While reaffirming American support for Israel, Biden emphasized the need for Netanyahu to pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken in Gaza.

Biden stated, “He has a right to defend Israel, a right to continue to pursue Hamas, but he must, he must, he must pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken.” The President went on to say that he believes Netanyahu is hurting Israel more than helping it with his current military approach, calling it a “big mistake” and urging for a cease-fire.

The delicate situation in the region has put the United States in a challenging position, as they continue to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza while supporting Israel. Biden has been vocal about the plight of civilians in Gaza, urging Netanyahu not to proceed with plans for a major ground offensive in Rafah without a plan to protect the civilians there.

As the situation in Gaza becomes increasingly dire, with warnings of famine and deaths from malnutrition and dehydration, Biden is expanding aid efforts by planning to build a floating pier off the coast of Gaza to deliver more supplies to the enclave. However, challenges remain as Israel has largely blocked the delivery of supplies by land.

Despite the difficulties, Biden remains hopeful that the United States can help broker a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, especially with the holy month of Ramadan approaching. The President emphasized the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict and preventing further loss of innocent lives in the region.
