Title: Discrepancy in Aid Truck Numbers Entering Gaza Raises Concerns

In a recent report, it was revealed that there is a significant difference in the number of aid trucks entering Gaza as reported by Israel and the United Nations. According to U.N. data, 533 aid trucks entered Gaza in the three days after Saturday, while Israeli data shows no increase in the daily average of trucks entering Gaza in the first week of April compared to the previous week.

The discrepancy in numbers is attributed to the differing methods used by Israel and the United Nations to track trucks. Israeli inspectors screen and count trucks at the border crossings, often prohibiting some of their contents, resulting in trucks entering Gaza only half full. Once inside Gaza, the trucks are unloaded, repacked, and sent to U.N. warehouses, where they are counted as full trucks, leading to a lower tally.

Furthermore, complications such as delays in truck arrivals at warehouses and stringent Israeli inspections have hindered the delivery of aid to Gaza. Despite promises to scale up aid, the number of trucks entering Gaza remains far below what is needed, according to aid agencies.

The challenges in distributing aid inside Gaza are further exacerbated by Israel’s denial of access to UNRWA, the main U.N. relief agency working in the territory, particularly in the northern region.

In response to the discrepancy, COGAT criticized the U.N.’s counting method, calling it an attempt to conceal logistical distribution difficulties. The situation highlights the ongoing challenges in providing much-needed aid to the people of Gaza.

As the aid delivery process continues to face obstacles, it is crucial for all parties involved to work together to ensure that essential supplies reach those in need in a timely and efficient manner.
