Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the hit musical Hamilton, has expressed his love for Wales and hinted at the possibility of a Disney animation set in the country. Miranda, who fell in love with Wales while filming the BBC drama His Dark Materials in 2018, praised the country’s castles, cuisine, and musical language.

In an interview with BBC Radio Wales, Miranda shared his positive experiences in Wales, including singing karaoke at a Cardiff bar and visiting the picturesque town of Hay-on-Wye. He described Wales as a beautiful part of the world and expressed his desire to return, possibly for work or other reasons.

Miranda’s musical Hamilton is set to embark on its first UK tour and will come to Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre in November. The groundbreaking production, which features inclusive casting with actors of different racial and ethnic backgrounds playing America’s founding fathers, has received critical acclaim for challenging traditional portrayals.

Fans attending the show in Cardiff may have the chance to see Miranda return to Wales, as he hinted that the Hamilton tour could be the perfect excuse for him to revisit the country he has grown to love. With Miranda’s admiration for Wales and its culture, a Disney animation set in the country could be a possibility in the future.
