Israel’s Raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza Enters Fourth Day

Israel’s military has been engaged in a deadly raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza, the largest medical facility in the territory, for the past four days. The military claimed to have killed dozens of people it described as terrorists in the previous 24 hours, as it continued its operation at the hospital complex.

According to Israel, Hamas has been using hospitals in Gaza as command centers, taking advantage of the cover they provide to dig tunnels and store weapons. The latest attack on Al-Shifa Hospital, which began on Monday, has been the most deadly since the start of the war in Gaza over five months ago.

Reports from Al Jazeera and Wafa, the Palestinian Authority’s news agency, stated that Israeli forces had blown up a building used for surgery at the hospital complex. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to these reports, which could not be independently verified.

Israel’s military said it was conducting precise operational activity at the hospital, eliminating dozens of terrorists during exchanges of fire. It also claimed to have located storage sites for weapons while preventing harm to civilians. Hamas has denied using hospitals for military purposes.

The initial raid on Al-Shifa Hospital sparked criticism of Israel’s military actions around hospitals and the danger it poses to patients and medical staff. It also fueled a broader debate about the human cost of Israel’s campaign to destroy Hamas in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths and injuries of tens of thousands of civilians.

As the situation at Al-Shifa Hospital continues to unfold, the lack of communication and access to northern Gaza has made it difficult to verify the Israeli military’s claims. The conflict between Israel and Hamas shows no signs of abating, with both sides continuing to engage in deadly confrontations.
