The Mayor of Brussels Sends Police to Break Up Anti-Woke Conservative Gathering

In a dramatic turn of events, the Mayor of Brussels, Emir Kir, sent police officers to shut down a gathering of prominent, self-described “anti-woke” conservatives from across Europe, including Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The mayor declared that “the far right is not welcome” before the authorities quickly retreated, leaving conservative participants to denounce left-wing intolerance.

The National Conservatism Conference, organized by the Edmund Burke Foundation, was abruptly closed on grounds of “public safety,” sparking outrage among attendees. Nigel Farage of Britain, a vocal critic of cancel culture, likened the intervention to the suppression of dissent in the Soviet Union, calling it an attack on freedom of speech.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, a center-right opponent of the Socialist Party, condemned the police intervention, stating that banning political meetings is unconstitutional. The incident drew sharp criticism from Orban, who compared it to actions by Hungary’s communist authorities in 1988.

The conference, initially planned at a grand ballroom, faced multiple venue cancellations due to protests by left-wing activists. Despite the challenges, attendees remained defiant, with Israeli-American chairman Yoram Hazony urging them to stay put.

The gathering, which included mainstream hard-right politicians and controversial figures like French presidential candidate Éric Zemmour, highlighted the growing divide between conservative voices and the European establishment. Critics of the shutdown, including Suella Braverman of Britain, accused globalists of prioritizing censorship over border security.

The incident in Brussels underscores the ongoing battle between traditional conservative values and the rise of woke ideology, setting the stage for further clashes in the political arena.
