The New York Mets are taking their love for Grimace to a whole new level by dedicating a seat at Citi Field to the McDonald’s character. Grimace made an appearance at the ballpark on Monday, and the Mets secured a close victory against the Washington Nationals with a game-winning single from Starling Marte.

This isn’t the first time Grimace has brought luck to the team. Back in June, the Mets went on a seven-game winning streak after Grimace threw out the first pitch. Since then, the team has been on fire, with a record of 53-31 since June 12.

The Grimace seat will be located in the second deck in right field, row 6, seat 12, and will be available for purchase during the final home games of the regular season. Mets’ senior vice president of partnerships, Brenden Mallette, expressed excitement about the fan-created Grimace phenomenon and the opportunity to celebrate their new celebrity fan.

While some may compare the Grimace seat to legendary moments in baseball history, Mets’ executive vice president and chief marketing officer Andy Goldberg sees it as a fun way to engage with fans and celebrate the team’s success this season.

With a record of 82-68, the Mets have six home games left, including a matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. The team is hoping that the Grimace magic will continue to bring them luck as they push for a playoff spot.

Overall, the Mets are embracing the fun and excitement that Grimace has brought to the team and their fans, making this season one to remember.
