According to Anthropic’s chief executive and co-founder, Dario Amodei, Claude 3 Opus outperforms leading chatbots from Google and OpenAI on a variety of benchmark tests, particularly excelling in analyzing scientific data and generating computer code.
Anthropic is at the forefront of generative A.I., a technology that instantly creates text, images, and sounds. The founders of Anthropic, including Dr. Amodei, were instrumental in pioneering this technology while working at OpenAI, the start-up that kickstarted the generative A.I. revolution with the release of the chatbot ChatGPT in late 2022.
Chatbots like ChatGPT have the ability to answer questions, write term papers, generate computer programs, and more. However, they also have the potential to produce false or misleading information, similar to human behavior.
Despite facing controversies and lawsuits related to chip shortages and data gathering practices, the A.I. industry continues to advance rapidly. Anthropic claims that Claude 3 Opus surpasses the capabilities of GPT-4 and Gemini in areas such as mathematical problem solving, computer coding, and general knowledge.

Both versions of Claude technology are capable of responding to images as well as text, enabling them to analyze complex data like flowcharts and mathematical problems with diagrams and graphs. However, the technology does not have the ability to generate images, as demonstrated by Google’s recent suspension of Gemini’s feature to create human faces after producing controversial images.
