Queens Park Ladies U-12 Soccer Team Makes History by Going Undefeated in Boys’ League
With just four games left in the season, the Queens Park Ladies, an under-12 girls’ soccer team in Bournemouth, England, achieved the unthinkable: they won their league without losing a single match. What makes this feat even more impressive is that they were the only girls’ team competing in a boys’ league.
The team, dubbed the “Invincibles” after Arsenal’s undefeated 2003-04 season, dominated their opponents, conceding only 11 goals in 22 games. Led by captain Olivia Green and goalkeeper Mariah Silva, the Queens Park Ladies showcased their skill and determination throughout the season.
Despite facing skepticism and underestimation from opposing teams, the Queens Park Ladies proved their worth on the field. Coach Chris Wragg emphasized the team’s unity and resilience, highlighting the girls’ ability to compete at the same level as their male counterparts.
The success of the Queens Park Ladies is not only a testament to their talent but also a sign of the growing popularity of women’s soccer in England. The players hope to inspire other girls to pursue the sport and continue breaking barriers in the male-dominated world of football.
As the Queens Park Ladies look ahead to the next season in Division 2, where they will play on a bigger pitch and against 11 players, their coach Toby Green has high hopes for their future. With plans to establish a ladies’ team within the club and aim for higher leagues, the Queens Park Ladies are setting their sights on even greater achievements in the world of women’s soccer.
