The New England Patriots have reportedly agreed to trade quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a move that is shaking up the NFL quarterback landscape. According to ESPN, the two teams are finalizing the trade, which may involve a sixth-round pick, but cannot be officially completed until the start of the new league year on Wednesday.

Jones, who was selected by the Patriots as the No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 draft, had a promising rookie season where he led the team to the playoffs and finished second in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. However, his performance in his second and third seasons with New England did not meet expectations, leading to the decision to trade him.

With the Patriots likely to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft, Jones is expected to become the backup to Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville. This trade marks a new chapter for both Jones and the Patriots as they look to move forward with new leadership and a fresh start.
